Soil Moisture Sensor
The Soil Moisture Sensor is a key component in smart agriculture and automation systems. It measures the volumetric water content of the soil, helping determine when plants need watering.
How It Works?
The sensor has two probes that measure resistance in the soil. Wet soil conducts electricity better (low resistance), while dry soil shows high resistance. The Arduino reads this as an analog value to estimate moisture levels.
Key Features
- Detects soil water levels accurately
- Works with both 3.3V and 5V systems
- Compact and easy to interface
- Perfect for automatic irrigation projects
Applications in Robotics & IoT
Soil moisture sensors are widely used in smart farming and automation systems for sustainability.
Smart Irrigation
Automatically waters crops when soil becomes dry.
Agricultural Robots
Used by robots to analyze field moisture and optimize irrigation.
Greenhouse Systems
Monitors and controls humidity and soil water levels.
IoT-Based Weather Systems
Integrates with IoT devices for environmental analysis and prediction.
