Gas Sensor (MQ Series)
The MQ Series Gas Sensors are designed to detect various gases like LPG, CO, methane, and smoke. They output an analog voltage that changes with gas concentration, making them ideal for air quality monitoring and safety systems.
How It Works?
The sensor’s internal chemical layer reacts with gas molecules and changes its resistance. The Arduino reads this change via an analog input and estimates the gas concentration.
Common MQ Modules
- MQ-2 – LPG, Smoke, and Methane detection
- MQ-3 – Alcohol detection
- MQ-7 – Carbon Monoxide detection
- MQ-135 – Air Quality and CO₂ detection
